Tom, courier at Selectcamp

Hi, I am Tom Vermeulen, 23 years old, and last summer I have worked for Selectcamp at camping Nouvelle Floride in the South of France. It was a great season!

In the beginning of April my adventure started and after 6 unforgettable months I returned home and the end of September. Of course it is hard work; for example preparing the mobile homes. It takes you half a day to clean one mobile home. We wanted to welcome our guests to the cleanest accommodation, so we made sure they were sparkling. We cleaned them from top to bottom and in the smallest spaces.

Assembly, guests and disassembly
After the montage and cleaning period the guests arrive very quickly. It is wonderfully diverse, more people surrounding you and also a lot more atmosphere on the campsite. For me the best part of the job. This is why you do this job in the first place; making sure your guests have a great and untroubled holiday! Eventually I experienced the disassembly period as relatively easy. During the season we kept the accommodations very clean so we sailed through the disassembly period. We were able to end the season relaxed.

Teamwork!
Do not underestimate the work. The work signifies a lot of cleaning and you will have to work hard and takes a lot of effort to be ready before your guests arrive on the campsite. This is a team effort, a good vibe therefore is very important.

Freetime
Whether you experience working as a courier the same way as I do is completely up to you. When you approach the work efficiently you will have enough spare time to swim, explore the surroundings or have a drink. I really enjoyed myself. I really liked being in contact with guests on the campsite. I joined them for dinner several times, had barbeques with them or joined them on a trip. I still run into guests living in the same neighbourhood as I live. I smile every time I think back to my summer in 2011. I still have contact with a lot of old colleagues and soon we will meet each other again. I got to know great people and I have fully enjoyed my time at the Mediterranean Sea.

All this has made these 6 months unforgettable. I can really recommend working for Selectcamp. Cleaning and hard work go together with a great time!
